Doha – Mubasher: The benchmark index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) grew 2.69% in the week ended 5 January, adding 280.588 points and closing at 10,717.34 points, compared to the previous week's closing at 10,436.76 points.
Turnover increased 16.4% this week reaching QAR 1.13 billion compared to QAR 970.2 million last week, while traded volume reached 39.2 million shares, down 4.51% from 41.01 million shares traded in the previous week.
The QSE's market capitalisation was up 2.19% to QAR 575.797 billion ($157.92 billion) compared to last week's QAR 563.466 billion ($154.53 billion).
A total of 32 stocks ended the week in the green, led by Qatar for Cinema and Film Distribution, which surged 9.84%, while 10 stocks were down, led by Ezdan's 6.95% drop, and two stocks remained stable.
Industries Qatar was the best performer in terms of traded value, with 10.41% of the QSE's total trades during the week, followed by Mazaya Qatar for Real Estate Development and Masraf Al Rayan with 8.42% and 7%, respectively.
