QSE gains 72 pts at Wednesday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Wednesday’s trading session in the green, supported by the growth of five sectors.

The general index rose 72.40 points, or 0.74%, to finish at 9,889.47 points.

The bourse’s liquidity decreased to QAR 178.50 million on Wednesday from QAR 184.18 million on Tuesday, while the trading volume increased to 5.18 million shares against 4.87 million in the previous session.

The transportation sector topped the QSE’s risers adding 1.8% as Qatar Navigation jumped 2.97%, while the banking sector levelled up 0.85% due to Qatar International Islamic Bank’s (QIIB) 1.75% growth.

On the negative side, the goods and services sector headed the bourse’s decliners falling 0.64% as Qatar for Cinema and Film Distribution plunged 8.02%.

The telecommunication sector inched down 0.05%, dragged by Vodafone Qatar’s 0.12% drop.

By the end of the session, the heaveyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock, which advanced 0.73%, led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 33.75 million, while Gulf International Services’ stock, which went up 1.50%, spearheaded the market in terms of trading volume with 1.02 million shares.
