QSE gains QAR 22bn in Feb’s 1st week

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) main index closed the first week in February at the level of 9,683.62 points, rising 4.44% or 411.61 points.

Al Rayan Islamic Index jumped 5.28% to 3,435.44 points and the All Share Index climbed 4.91% to 2,579.75 points.

Turnover increased 3.33% to QAR 1.38 billion this week from QAR 1.34 billion last week. Trading volume surged 6.34% to 45.08 million shares, versus 42.40 million shares exchanged last week.

Transactions totalled 23,740, 10.42 up from 21,050 deals executed a week ago. Market value inched up 4.43% to QAR 517.19 billion from QAR 495.27 billion.

The telecom and services sectors were on top of the winners, with respective increases of 9.33% and 9.29%, while insurance tailed the winning list with growth of 0.07%.

Out of 43 stocks, 33 moved up, nine others dropped and the one remaining stood at the same rate.

Gulf International was the most active during the week as it made up 12.39% of total trading volume, followed by QNB and Al Rayan Bank at 7.22% and 6.45% respectively.

The index closed last week with a rise of 8.01% or 688 points, making an end for three straight weeks of losses.
