QSE gains QAR 6.57bn in June

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) slid 8.8% or 870.94 points to reach 9,030.44 points in June, compared to 9,901.38 points in May.

The QSE’s market capitalisation decreased 7.47% or QAR 39.47 billion to QAR 489.08 billion ($129.3 billion) by the end of June, compared to QAR 528.55 billion ($139.73 billion) in the previous month.

QSE’s liquidity rose 10.61% to reach QAR 6.57 billion in June as compared to QAR 5.94 billion in the month before, while trading volume increased 7.91% to 249.43 million shares from 231.14 million shares.

On a monthly basis, transactions grew 3.85% to reach 73,210, compared to 70,500.

The banks sector led in terms of trading value after accounting for 47.59% of stocks’ total value, followed by the industrial with 11.63%, the real estate with 11.59%, the telecom with 10.21%, the consumer goods and services with 9.15%, the transportation with 7.56%, and the insurance with 2.27%.

The banks sector was the best performer in terms of trading volume, followed by the telecom with, the real estate, the industrial, the transportation, the consumer goods and services, and the insurance with 41.13%, 22.56%, 19.39%, 6.53%, 5.96%, 3.33%, and 1.1%, respectively.

Three out of 44 stocks listed on the QSE levelled up, whereas 41 went down.
