QSE grows 688 points higher in week

Doha - Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) main index gained 8.01% or 688 points in the last week of January, reaching the level of 9,272.01 points, compared to 8,584.01 points last week.

Al Rayan Islamic Index also grew 7.38% to 3,263.23 points, and the All Share Index increased 7.51% to 2,458.99 points.

Meanwhile, turnover declined 11.85% to QAR 1.3 billion, versus QAR 1.5 billion. Trading volume also fell 14.32% to 42.4 million shares against 458.41 million shares exchanged.

The market cap rose 8.04% to QAR 459.27 billion from QAR 458.41 billion.

The main sectors moved up collectively, as insurance advanced 12.67%, industrial (+8.53%), banking (+7.79%), real estate (+7.62%), services (5.36%), telecom (+4.77%) and transportation (+1.47%).

Qatari Investors was the best performing share as it surged 15.89%, while Mannai was the worst after falling 5.01%.

QNB was in lead in terms of value with QAR 196.32 million, and the largest traded stock was Gulf International after four million shares were traded.
