QSE hits 3M low at Wednesday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Wednesday in the red, dragged down by the fall of all sectors, hitting the lowest level since February 2018.

The general index fell 2.31%, or 210.58 points, to finish at 8,915.82 points.

The QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 570.58 million on Wednesday from QAR 791.54 million on Tuesday, while the trading volume went down to 10.21 million shares against 11.09 million in the previous session.

The industrial sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 3.14% as Qatar Electricity and Water Company declined 4.05%.

Similarly, the banking sector levelled down 2.04% as Masraf Al Rayan and the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) retreated 4.69% and 2.06%, respectively.

The goods and services sector lost 0.61% due to Medicare Group’s 2.89% drop.

Qatar Navigation’s stock, which stood at QAR 15.01 on Wednesday, led the QSE in terms of trading volume with 2.02 million shares, while QNB’s stock headed the market in terms of liquidity with QAR 241.64 million.
