QSE hits 6th straight decline Wednesday

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday’s trading in the red, for the sixth session in a row, dragged down by six sectors.

The general index fell 140.81 points, or 1.62%, to finish at 8,553.14 points.

The QSE’s traded volume stood at 8.16 million shares on Wednesday, up from 7.30 million on Tuesday, while trading value increased to QAR 199.47 million, from QAR 189.59 million.

The banking sector levelled down 1.87% as Qatar National Bank (QNB) fell 2.25%.

The industrials sector decreased 1.81% after the stocks of Gulf International Services and Industries Qatar went down 3.16% and 3.11%, respectively.

The real estate sector declined 1.79%, pushed down by Ezdan Holding Group which dropped 2.75%.

On the positive side, the consumer goods and services sector inched up 0.25% after Qatar Cinema and Film Distribution Company jumped 9.96%, while Qatar Fuel (WOQOD) edged up 0.68%.

Qatar First Bank’s (QFB) stock, which fell 2.34%, led the bourse in terms of trading volume with 1.7 million shares, while QNB’s stock topped the market in terms of liquidity after generating QAR 31.1 million.
