QSE jumps 1.1%, surpasses 9,000 pts at Thursday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Thursday in the green and passed the level of 9,000 points.

The general index gained 1.07% or 95.29 points and closed the session and week at 9,024.03 points.

Turnover nearly halved to QAR 275.19 million on Thursday from QAR 532.58 million on Wednesday, while traded volume decreased to 8.57 million shares versus 9.26 million.

The transport sector led risers, adding 2.63% on the back of Milaha’s 7.97% surge, while the banking sector grew 0.69% on the back of the Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBK) and Qatar National Bank (QNB), which increased 2.95% and 0.63%, respectively.

On the negative side, the consumer goods and services sector slipped 0.06% after four of its stocks ended lower, led by Qatar for Cinema and Film Distribution, which plunged 9.94%.

Vodafone Qatar, down 0.23%, led the QSE in terms of volume with 3.36 million shares exchanged, while QNB was the value leader with QAR 60.35 million in turnover.
