QSE jumps 86 pts at Monday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Monday’s trading in green territory, encouraged by the growth of five sectors.

The general index rose 0.98%, or 86.85 points, to finish at 8,943.75 points.

The bourse’s liquidity increased to QAR 395.12 million on Monday from QAR 185.74 million on Sunday, while the trading volume grew to 10.57 million shares against 7.75 million in the previous session.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s risers adding 2.525%, boosted by Qatar National Bank (QNB) and Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) which levelled up 3.91% and 2.25%, respectively.

Similarly, the industrial sector advanced 0.41% after Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding surged 2.20%.

On the negative side, the goods and services sector topped the bourse’s losers falling as Widam Food Company and Qatar Fuel declined 2.27% and 1.10%, respectively.

The insurance sector inched down 0.28%, dragged by Doha Insurance’s 0.82% drop.

QNB’s stock led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 176.9 million, while Vodafone Qatar’s stock, which went up 1.16%, headed the market in terms of trading volume with 2.3 million shares.
