QSE loses 0.56% at close

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Sunday’s session in red, affected by falls in five sectors.

The main index declined 0.56% or 58.6 points to the level of 10,327.84 points, Al Rayan Islamic Index fell 0.27% to 3,867.3 points, and the All Share Index slid 0.44% to 2,797.33 points.

Trading volume decreased 20.9% to 7.4 million shares, compared to 9.35 million shares exchanged on Thursday. Turnover also shrank 15% to QAR 258.3 million ($70.93 million) from QAR 303.9 million ($83.45 million) last session.

Insurance was the worst performing sector as it decreased 1.1%, followed by industrial (-0.6%), transportation (-0.59%), banking (-0.52%) and real estate (-0.17%).

On the other hand, telecom and also consumer goods and services advanced by 0.48% and 0.11%, respectively.

Qatar for Cinema and Film Distribution topped losers after falling 4.18%, while Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance was the best performer with a 4.08% rise.

Barwa was the most active with a trading volume of 1.15 million shares worth QAR 43.14 million ($11.8 million). The stock shrank 0.8%.

The bourse’s main gauge rose on Thursday by 0.07% to 10,386.44 points.
