QSE loses QAR 2.3bn at Tuesday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Tuesday’s trading session in the red, as six sectors retreated with market capitalisation losses of QAR 2.3 billion.

The general index declined 0.80%, or 68.55 points, to 8,501.03 points.

The QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 184.41 million on Tuesday from QAR 473.4 million on Monday, while the trading volume declined to 13.89 million shares against 14.38 million in the previous session.

The real estate sector topped the decliners falling 1.05%, after Mazaya Qatar Real Estate tumbled 2.24%. .

The industrial sector decreased 0.65%, led by Qatar Industrial Manufacturing’s 2.31% drop.

Similarly, the banking sector went down 0.56%, dragged by National Leasing Holding Company which sank 2.43%.

On the flipside, the insurance sector was the only gainer adding 0.50% after Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Company and Al Khaleej Takaful Group jumped 3.92% and 1.63%, respectively.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock topped the QSE’s losers tumbling 3.04%, while Qatar National Bank’s stock led the winners soaring 9.99%.

Qatar First Bank, which increased 3.44%, headed the QSE’s trading volume with 4.2 million shares, generating QAR 28.1 million.
