QSE main index drifts 1.48% lower

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Monday in red, as it lost 1.48% or 132.75 points to 8,848.86 points.

Al Rayan Islamic Index slid 1.87% to 3,149.55 points, and the All Shares Index slipped 1.52% to 2,352.21 points.

The market witnessed a trading volume of 6.80 million shares worth QAR 237.80 million, after 3,810 transactions were completed.

Sector-wise, the insurance, telecommunication and industrial sectors went down by 4.01%, 3.13% and 0.51%, respectively.

Out of 40 stocks traded today, decliners outnumbered advancers by 32 to seven, while only one stock remained unchanged.

Qatar National Bank was the best performer as it inched up 0.80% while Qatar General Insurance topped decliners with a decrease of 7.45%.

Qatar National Bank was the largest-traded stock after 314,600 shares changed hands, worth QAR 48 million.
