Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) started Wednesday's trading session in decline, pressured by the insurance and banking sectors.
By 9:55 am Qatar time, the benchmark index went down 69.18 points, or 0.71%, to 9,549.74 points.
The bourse's trading volume amounted to 1.1 million shares exchanged at a turnover of QAR 16.4 million through 350 transactions.
The insurance sector fell 1.41% as Qatar Insurance’s stock tumbled 2.56%.
The banks and financial service sector declined 1.28% after the heavyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock levelled down 2%, whereas Qatar First Bank’s (QFB) stock rose 1%.
The real estate sector inched down 0.23%, dragged down by the stocks of Barwa Real Estate and United Development Co (UDC) which went down 0.69% and 0.07%, respectively.
On the other hand, the consumer goods and services sector edged up 0.09% as Medicare Group’s stock increased 0.76% and Qatar Fuel’s (Woqod) stock inched up 0.08%.
Vodafone Qatar’s stock, up 0.43%, was the most active in bourse’s trading activities after 810,700 shares were exchanged, generating a turnover of QAR 7.7 million.
