QSE opens higher on real estate stocks

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Exchange’s main index opened Monday’s early trading 0.7% higher to the mark of 9,849.34 points.

By 9:50am Qatari time, around 341,890 shares were traded at QAR 9.73 million over 178 transactions.

Sector-wise, the real estate sector led the gainers with a 0.58% rise, backed by Ezdan and United Development that initiated the session higher by 0.56% and 1.95% respectively.

On the same positive note, the consumer goods rose by 0.51% and the transportation edged up 0.07%.

Meanwhile, the laggards were headed by the industrial sector with a fall of 0.1% after Industries Qatar moved down by 0.6%, shrugging off the 0.55% upturn of Gulf International that topped trading activity in terms of value with QAR 1.7 million.

Similarly, the insurance sector edged down 0.01% on Qatar Insurance that topped the losers by 1.11% and the banking sector as well inched down by 0.01%.

With Vodafone-Qatar as the most active stocks in terms of volume (75,740 shares), the telecom sector steadied in early trading.
