QSE opens in red on transportation, banks stocks

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) opened Thursday’s session on a negative note after falling by 0.13% or 14.05 points to the level of 10,438.06 points.

By 10:00am Doha time, trading volume reached 1.3 million shares exchanged at QAR 39.81 million though 547 transactions.

The fall was due to the decline in some blue chips as Commercial Bank of Qatar fell 0.93%, Nakilat, shrank 0.84%, Doha Bank slid 0.13% and Mazaya Qatar retreated 0.67%.

The index was also pressured by the fall in six sectors, topped by the transportation sector with a 0.86% decrease as Milaha shrank 1.39%.

The consumer goods and services sector declined 0.47%, the banking sector moved 0.06% down as Al Khalij Bank led the red list with a fall of 3.6%.

On the other hand, the insurance sector grew alone by 0.1%, backed by a 0.19% rise in Qatar Islamic Insurance.
