QSE remains in red, loses 195 points at close

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) headed further south on Tuesday, as the main index plummeted 2.01% or about 195 point to 9,447.09 points.

Al Rayan Islamic Index dropped 2.03% to 3,479.42 points, and the All Shares Index slipped 1.90% to 2,531.75 points.

Trading volume reached 4.22 million shares worth QAR 179.44 million through 2,753 trades, compared to 5.55 million shares exchanged yesterday at QAR 246.23 million in 3,779 transactions.

The main sectors closed down collectively, led by transportation and services which retreated 2.96% and 2.20% respectively, while telecom shrank 1.34%, the day’s smallest decliner.

Out of 37 companies, five shares closed in green, 31 others declined and the one remaining was flat.

Qatar Islamic Insurance was the top riser with a growth of 4.76%, whereas Islamic Holding was the lowest with a 5% decrease.

Gulf International was the heaviest-traded stock as it saw 444,500 shares being traded, while Industries Qatar was the most active in terms of trading value with QAR 27 million.

The main index closed yesterday at the level of 9,671.86 points after inching down 0.02% or 2.04 points.
