QSE remains strong despite sharp fall – Analyst

Doha – Mubasher: Despite the sharp fall in the main index on Monday, the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) continues to be one of the strongest markets in the region and globally, according to financial analyst and economic advisor, Ayoub Eshban.

The Qatari benchmark index yesterday shrank 4.38% or about 462.65 points, reaching the level of 10,090.81 points.

“Besides big selling by foreign portfolios by the end of Monday’s session, weak liquidity and poor dividends were as well behind the fall of the index,” Eshban explained to Mubasher.

“The sharp fall in oil prices globally along with the geopolitical scene are among the factors affecting stock markets around the world,” he added.

Psychological sentiment is currently overrunning the market, the one scenario that should be abandoned at the time, Eshban concluded.
