Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed the week ended 17 May 2018 higher.
The main index of the QSE increased 1.62%, or 141.51 points, to finish the week at 8,891.16 points.
Market capitalisation jumped 1.90% to QAR 491.55 billion over the week, compared to QAR 482.3 billion in the week ended 17 May.
The market’s trading volume declined 10.19% to 43.54 million shares this week versus 48.48 million last week.
On a weekly basis, the number of transactions jumped 24.77% to 20,716 against 16,603.
The banking sector topped the QSE in terms of trading value with 59.45%, followed by the industrial, telecommunication and transportation sectors which recorded 17.78%, 7.48% and 4.80%, respectively.
The heavyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock acquired 39.49% of the market’s trading value, while Industries Qatar’s and Qatar Islamic Bank’s stocks accounted for 7.85% and 6.56%, respectively.
The banking sector topped the bourse's trading volume this week with 36.24%. Meanwhile, the telecommunications, industrial and real estate segments registered 19.43%, 14.93% and 12.92%, respectively.
