QSE rises modestly at Monday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index inched up 6.48 points, or 0.06%, to close at 10,118.10 points on Monday.

The QSE’s liquidity retreated to QAR 266.85 million on Monday, from QAR 337.39 million on Thursday, while trading volume rose to 9.94 million shares, compared to 9.45 million in the previous session.

The banking sector increased 0.54% after the Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) advanced 1.77%.

On the other hand, the industrials sector fell 0.12% as Industries Qatar, the second heaviest-weighted stock in the general index, declined 0.76%.

Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding led risers after adding 2.80% to QAR 17.99, its highest level in 30 months, while Islamic Holding Group headed fallers and slid 3.76%.

Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding’s stock registered the highest trading volume with 2.23 million shares, while the heavyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock, down 0.64%, led the QSE in terms of turnover of QAR 54.28 million.
