QSE’s main index gains 171 points at close

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) rose on Tuesday by 1.69% or 171.28 points to the level of 10,316.67 points.

Al Rayan Islamic Index advanced 1.83% or 72.8 points to 4,042.32 points, and the All Share Index also added 1.63% or 45.81 points to 2,864.32 points.

Trading volume increased 5.3% to 10.73 million shares from 10.19 million shares exchanged on Monday.

Turnover also rose 6.1% to QAR 393.3 million ($108.04 million) from QAR 370.79 million ($101.86 million) yesterday.

The bourse’s sectors rose semi-collectively, topped by real estate with a 3.52% increase, supported by increases of 3.99% and 3.94% in Barwa and Ezdan respectively.

The consumer goods and services sector shrank alone by 0.05%, due to a fall of 3.25% in Al Meera, which was today’s worst performing share.

Qatar for Cinema and Film Distribution was the best performer after adding 10% as 650,000 shares were traded at QAR 22,200 ($6,098).

Barwa Real Estate was the most traded share with a volume of 2.04 million shares and turnover of QAR 74 million ($20.33 million).

The bourse’s main index closed yesterday with a fall of 0.82% or 83.63 points to 10,145.39 points.
