QSE sheds 40 pts at Wednesday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Wednesday's trading session in negative territory, dragged down by the fall of five sectors.

The general index declined 40.79 points, or 0.43%, to finish at 9,355.02 points.

The bourse’s liquidity decreased to QAR 121.35 million on Wednesday from QAR 256.45 million on Tuesday, while the trading volume went down to 3.93 million shares against 10.73 million in the previous session.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 0.29% as the Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) fell 2.43%.

Similarly, the industrial sector inched down 0.19% after Industries Qatar dipped 1.09%.

On the other hand, the real estate sector headed the bourse’s gainers with a rise of 0.25% as Barwa Real Estate grew 0.81%, while the transportation sector inched up 0.02% after Gulf Warehousing Company and Qatar Gas Transport (Nakilat) rose 0.54% and 0.38%, respectively.

By the end of the session, the heavyweight Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock, which advanced 0.44%, led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 19.6 million, while Nakilat’s stock topped the market in terms of trading volume with 682,200 shares.
