QSE slides 114 pts at Wednesday’s close

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday in the red zone after its benchmark plunged 1.45% or 114.38 points to 7,798.10 points.

The QSE’s market capitalisation saw losses of QAR 7.6 billion.

The stocks’ market capitalisation value tumbled 1.7% to QAR 428.3 billion on Wednesday, from QAR 435.9 billion on Tuesday.

The bourse’s trading volume decreased to 9.26 million shares on Wednesday, against 14.42 million shares on Tuesday, while liquidity slid to QAR 181.5 million, from QAR 305.43 million.

The banks sector fell 2.01% as Qatar First Bank’s (QFB) stock dropped 3.7%, while the industrials sector lost 1.37% after Gulf International Services’ stock retreated 6.54%.

The real estate sector declined 1.35% as Mazaya Qatar Real Estate Development’s stock went down 3.14%.

Qatar Islamic Insurance’s stock was QSE’s worst performer with 7.69%, whereas Al Khaleej Takaful Group’s stock led risers with 1.83%.

Ezdan Holding Group’s stock, down 1.5%, led in terms of traded volume after 1.4 million shares were exchanged, while the Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock topped in terms of trading value with a turnover of QAR 40.5 million, despite falling 3.28%.
