QSE slides 162.26 pts at Wednesday’s close

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday in the red zone after losing 1.61% or 162.26 points to reach 9,901.38 points.

The real estate sector retreated 5.98% as Ezdan Holding Group slid 9.29% and Barwa fell 2.31%.

The insurance sector dropped 4.4%, while the industrials sector went down 1.71% after Industries Qatar and Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) levelled down 2.94% and 2.14%, respectively.

The banks sector tumbled 1.12% as the Commercial Bank of Qatar decreased 3.86%, followed by Qatar First Bank (QFB) with 3.56%, and Ahli Bank with 3.32%.

Trading volume rose to 17.73 million shares on Wednesday against 13.86 million shares on Tuesday, while liquidity surged to QAR 481.73 million from QAR 327.14 million.

Ezdan led in terms of traded volume with 4.8 million shares traded, while Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock was the most active in terms of trading value with a turnover of QAR 75.46 million.

Earlier on Wednesday, the benchmark index fell 0.63% or 63.42 points to reach 10,000.22 points.
