Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) fell 1.62% or 162.97 points to reach 9,901.38 points in May, compared to 10,064.35 points in April.
The QSE’s market capitalisation dropped 2.55% or QAR 13.82 billion to reach QAR 528.55 billion by the end of May, compared to QAR 542.37 billion in the month earlier.
Liquidity rose 27.1% to reach QAR 5.94 billion in May, compared to QAR 4.67 billion in the month before, while traded volume increased 27.54% reaching 231.14 million shares traded against 181.23 million shares in the previous month.
On a monthly basis, the number of transactions surged 14.37% to reach 70,500 transactions, compared to 61,640 transactions.
The banks sector led in terms of exchanged shares with 40.18%, followed by the real estate sector with 16.89%, the industrials sector with 12.97%, the telecoms sector with 11.84%, the transportation sector with 7.5%, the consumer goods and services sector with 6.53%, and the insurance sector with 4.1%.
Nine out of the 44 stocks listed on the QSE increased, whereas 34 stock prices declined, and one company remained unchanged.
