QSE starts Sunday in red

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) opened Sunday’s trading session on a negative note, dragged by the drop of five sectors.

By 10:05 am Qatar time, the general index grew 0.27% to 9582.28 points, adding 25.61 points.

Turnover amounted to QAR 76.5 million after 2.4 million shares were exchanged through 680 transactions.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 0.30% as Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) went down 1.23%.

Similarly, the industrial sector declined 0.20%, pressured by Qatar National Cement’s 2.08% drop.

Meanwhile, the real estate sector headed the bourse’s gainers adding 1.98% due to Ezdan Holding Group’s 4.95% jump, while the insurance sector inched up 0.03% as Qatar Islamic Insurance rose 0.77%.

The Commercial Bank of Qatar’s (CBQ) stock led the QSE in terms of trading volume with 1.2 million shares, generating QAR 49.1 million in liquidity.
