QSE suffers losses on Wednesday

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) saw a negative performance on Wednesday, weighed down by the fall of insurance and industrial sectors.

The main index fell 0.01% or 1.08 points to reach 10,596.14 points.

The insurance sector topped losers with a 0.59% decline as Qatar Islamic Insurance sank 1.30%.

The industrial sector levelled down 0.11% after Qatar Electricity and Water Co. (QEWC) slid 2.21%.

On the flipside, the consumer staples sector led gainers with a 0.67% increase as Medicare Group rose 2.57%.

Turnover reached QAR 227.1 million on Wednesday, compared to QAR 247.23 million on Tuesday. Turnover amounted to 7.9 million shares, compared to 8.7 million shares.

Ezdan Holding Group added 0.8%, with a trading volume of 2.22 million shares worth QAR 33.5 million.

Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQK) was the worst performer with a 2.29% decline, while Ahli Bank was the top gainer with a 4.17% rise.
