Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) general index soared 421.30 points, or 4.09%, to close at 10,702.31 points in January.
The QSE’s market capitalisation surged 4.61% month-on-month to QAR 615.86 billion by the end of January.
Moreover, the real estate sector advanced 14.32%, while the transportation and goods sectors grew 8.87% and 7.96%, respectively.
In terms of stocks, Qatar National Cement led gainers, skyrocketing 24.45%, whereas Qatar for Cinema and Film Distribution headed decliners after plunging 16.88%.
The QSE’s liquidity jumped 10.22% to QAR 5.79 billion in January, while trading volume fell 8.69% to 218.31 million shares.
The number of transactions retreated 8.70% to nearly 138,930 deals in the first month of 2019.
