Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) rose during January by 1.54% to the level of 10,597.22 points, compared to 10,436.76 points in December 2016.
The market capitalisation increased 0.91% to QAR 568.61 billion from QAR 563.5 billion in December 2016.
Trading volume rose 1.64% to 189.7 million shares from 186.6 million shares exchanged in December, turnover also increased to QAR 5.8 billion from QAR 5.4 billion.
The number of transactions reached 76,730 in January, 8.89% up from 70,500 transactions in December.
The banking sector led trading value with 33.57% of total turnover, followed by the real estate sector (21.04%), the industrial sector (19.92%), the services sector (9.88%) and the telecom sector (7.38%).
Woqod, up 10.73%, was the month’s best performing stock, while Qatar General Insurance led the red list after falling 13.83%.
