Mubasher: Trade exchange between Qatar and Australia amounted to QAR 2.97 billion ($816 million) in 2017, Qatar’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce said.
Australia is the 24th trade partner for Qatar, the ministry statement added.
On a separate note, David Littleproud, the Australian Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, met with Qatari minister of economy and commerce Ahmed bin Jassim to discuss potential economic cooperation means.
Qatar’s imports from Australia amounted to QAR 583.59 million ($160.31 million) in the first quarter of 2018, according to the recent data released by Qatari Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
There are 144 Australian firms operating in the GCC nation, of which 15 companies are 100% Australian ownership and 129 joint ventures.
Australian companies in Qatar are operating in trade, contracting, engineering establishing and consulting, marine services, and food trade, according to the ministry's data.
