Qatar, Russia discuss S-400 missile systems deal

Mubasher: Qatar and Russia have been in talks over the former’s intentions to buy S-400 missile systems, Nurmakhmad Kholov, the Russian ambassador to Qatar, said.

Both countries had signed an agreement to supply Qatar with small arms, such as Kalashnikov assault rifles and anti-tank weapons, Russian news agency TASS reported.

“As far as the air defence is concerned, the S-400 systems and so on, there are talks about this, but there is no concrete conclusion,” Kholov stated.

He added that Qatari energy minister Mohammed Al-Sada was set to take part in Moscow’s energy conference in October.

The Russian envoy to Qatar did not give further details concerning the total cost of the possible deal.
