Mubasher: Trade exchange between Qatar and the US surged to $6 billion during the January-to-October period of 2018, representing 6.23% of the total trade exchange between the Persian Gulf nation and other countries, the Qatari minister of commerce and industry said.

The US was the top exporter of Qatar in 2018 as the world's richest country per capita had 19.5% of its imports valued at $5.15 billion from the US, Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari added during a roundtable organised on the sidelines of the second Qatar-US strategic dialogue held on Sunday in Doha.

The private sector in both countries can take advantage of infrastructure projects planned to be implemented within the framework of the preparations of the soccer world cup 2022 to be held in Qatar which plans to attract 5.6 million visitors by 2023, the top official added.

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) announced on Sunday that it would raise investments in the US by 50% to $45 billion in the coming two years.
