Qatar Bourse closes on Sunday on collective decline

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Exchange’s main index ended Sunday's session in the red.

The main index fell 2.21% or 229 points to the level of 10,142.17 points, to achieve its lowest level since 19 September 2016.

On the contrary, the benchmark rose 0.52% or 52.22 points to the level of 10,318.95 points at the opening of Sunday's session.

The industries sector led the worst performers losing 3.6%, weighted by Qatari Investors Group which declined 10%.

The real estate sector decreased 2.2% after a collective fall for its stocks led by Mazaya Qatar Real Estate Development and Ezdan.

The banks sector also levelled down 1.62%, on the back of National Leasing Holding Company and Dlala Brokerage and Investment Holding which retreated 5.23% and 4.9%, respectively.

Turnover increased 35.6% to QAR 313.04 million from QAR 230.95 million on Thursday, while trading volume fell 2.1% to 7.94 million shares from 8.11 million shares last session.

The Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) led the falling blue chips losing 3.9%, followed by Industries Qatar (IQ), Ezdan and Masraf Al Rayan which decreased 2.5%, 2.45% and 2.42%, respectively.

Qatari Investors Group was the most active stock in terms of traded volume and value with 2.5 million shares traded at a value of QAR 154.8 million.
