Qatar Exchange rises for 5th week in row

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange rose for the fifth consecutive week, on the back of positive financial results achieved by major blue chip stocks, as well as a positive performance by six market sectors.

The general index went up 1.99%, gaining 187.22 points, and closed at the level of 9,607.89 points.

Market capital grew by 2.21% to QAR 532.79 billion, compared with QAR 512.44 billion by the end of last week.

The week saw 24 companies announce their financial statement, reporting a combined 7.5% year-on-year increase in profits.

As for the market sectors’ performance, six sectors ended the week in the green zone, ked by banks and real estate, which rose by 2.9% and 2.2%, respectively.

Traded volumes declined by 2.52% to 31.19 million shares, however, turnovers increased by 6.5% to QAR 967.04 million, with the total number of transactions rising by 14.1% to around 15,380.
