Mubasher: Qatar Gas, the world’s largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), has shut down a production unit on the back of leaks in gas pipelines that took place last week.
The shutdown will not affect the company’s supplies heading to Asia, especially the closed unit mainly provides LNG supplies to Japan, sources told Reuters.
It is expected that Qatar Gas would suspend the production until mid-February.
The delay of cargos will adversely affect the immediate LNG supplies to Asian markets, as a cold snap is hitting three of largest LNG’s purchasers in Asia; China, Japan and South Korea, Reuters added.
