Mubasher: The Qatari machinery and equipment price index (MEPI) declined 0.3% year-on-year during the first half of 2018, according to data released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) on Sunday.
The index showed a decline to 101.5 points in H1-18, from 101.8 points in the corresponding six months of 2017, the data showed.
Seven main groups pushed the MEPI to fall, topped by the prices of machinery and electrical appliances with 1%, followed by radio and television, musical instruments, and metal tools and tools segments, which went down 0.8%, 0.7, and 0.5%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the prices of special-purpose machines and transport equipment decreased by 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively, according to the report.
No change was noticed in general purpose machinery and medical appliances during the first six months of 2018.
