Mubasher: Bank lending in Qatar rose 6.05% year-on-year in June, Qatar Central Bank’s (QCB) data showed.
Loans amounted to QAR 929.78 billion ($255.41 billion) last month, compared to QAR 876.75 billion ($240.84 billion) in the same month a year earlier, QCB added.
Month-on-month, Qatari banks’ credit increased by 2.70% in June, from QAR 905.27 billion.
The central bank attributed the monthly growth in bank lending to an increase in the private sector's loans, which went up 2.11% to QAR 564.78 billion in June from QAR 553.10 billion in May.
On the other hand, the public sector’s loans levelled up 5.27% to QAR 348.49 billion last month, from QAR 331.04 billion in the month before.
Bank credit to non-banking financial institutions slid 21.78%, registering QAR 16.52 billion in June, compared to QAR 21.12 billion in May.
