Qatar electricity production up 10% in January

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s electricity production rose in January by 9.9% year-on-year, according to a report released on Wednesday by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.

Total electricity produced in January amounted to 2.5 million megawatt hour (MWH), compared to 2.3 million MWH in January 2016.

On a monthly basis, the total production declined 5.1% compared to 2.7 million MWH in December 2016.

Electricity consumption in Qatar increased in January by 11.2% to 2.3 million MWH, versus 2.1 million MWH in January 2015, while consumption dropped 5.3% compared to 4.47 million MWH in December 2016.

Qatar's water production rose 6.2% in January to 46.2 million cubic metres from 43.5 million cubic metres in January 2015. However, total production fell 0.9% compared to 46.6 million cubic metres in December 2016.

Water consumption increased 5.3% year-on-year to 44.4 million cubic metres, and decreased 1.2% month-on-month.
