Qatar ends Thursday in red

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Thursday in negative territory, breaking three straight rises, pressured by the fall of six sectors.

The general index declined 96.67 points, or 1.07%, to finish at 8,918.48 points.

The QSE’s liquidity decreased to QAR 263.43 million on Thursday from QAR 326.59 million on Wednesday, while the trading volume went down to 11.48 million shares against 10.43 million in the previous session.

The banking sector topped the QSE’s six losers falling 1.17%, dragged by Commercial Bank of Qatar and Qatar National Bank (QNB) which dropped 4.33% and 0.69%, respectively.

Likewise, the industrial sector inched down 0.03% after Industrial Qatar levelled down 0.69%.

On the flipside, the real estate sector was the bourse’s only gainer adding 0.32% due to Ezdan Holding Group’s 1.34% increase.

Mesaieed’s stock, which grew 0.80%, led the market in terms of trading volume with 2.05 million shares, generating QAR 33.47 million in a turnover.
