Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s Minister of Environment (MoE) launched yesterday the Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS 2014), which will be a mandatory technical regulation in the construction sector, similar to that of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards according to an MoE senior official.
The ministry On Wednesday held the second conference for QCS, at which the Minister of Environment, Ahmed bin Amer Al Hamidi, launched the Qatari-American online version ASTM, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
“ASTM didn’t chose QCS 2014 to add it in its interactive system by coincidence, but because the Qatari version deserves that, as the chief executive officer of ASTM lauded QCS 2014 for its force and craftsmanship, high technology, and dependence on scientific research,” Al-Kuwari said.
“For all the above reasons, QCS 2014 gained great praise by experts, businesses and engineers from Qatar and overseas,” he added.
Al-Kuwari asserted that his country witnesses an unprecedented construction renaissance and invests billions in constructing projects, adding that Qatar targets a life span of 100 years for these projects.
