Qatar external debt hits QAR 116bn in 2016

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s external debt surged 58.31% to reach QAR 116.16 billion ($31.90 billion) in 2016, compared to QAR 73.38 billion ($20.15 billion) in 2015, according to data released by the Qatar Central Bank (QCB).

In April, Qatari banks' total assets domestically and abroad rose 2.3%, reaching QAR 1.31 trillion, compared to QAR 1.28 trillion in March.

Qatar’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose 1.7% year-on-year during the fourth quarter of 2016 to reach QAR 200.75 billion.
