Qatar inks deal to promote tourism sector

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has signed an agreement with Germany’s Der Touristik Deutschland Company to promote the GCC country as an attractive tourism destination.

Under the agreement, the Cologne-based company will expand its offers for travelling to Qatar, QTA said in a statement.

“We are delighted to collaborate with a strong partner like DER Touristik, which… is keen to share Qatar's story with one of our biggest visitor source markets in Europe,” chief marketing and promotion officer at QTA Rashed AlQurese commented.

Qatar expects to open the first phase of Doha's new metro system and the National Museum of Qatar in 2019, which will boost the tourism sector in the GCC country.

“Qatar is an exciting emerging destination that can be comfortably and easily accessed from many hubs across Germany,” managing director at DER Touristik Deutschland Matthias Rotter said.

German visitors to Qatar rose 22% year-on-year in 2017.
