Mubasher: Qatar is expected to sign air service agreements with eight countries in 2016, Abdulla Nasser Turki Al Subaey, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a statement.
Both passenger numbers and cargo have been increasing steadily since the Hamad International Airport (HIA) opened for business in May 2014, Al Subaey added.
More than 30 million passengers passed through HIA in 2015, compared to 28 million passengers in its first year of operations.
Plans for the HIA’s expansion are in progress, with the final phase set for completion ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Tourism receipts are expected to reach $17.8 billion by 2030, supported by investment of up to $45 billion under the 2030 National Tourism Sector Strategy.
