Qatar merchandise trade balance surplus records QAR 20.6bn in Q2

Qatar – Mubasher: Qatar Foreign Merchandise Trade Balance in the second quarter of 2016 recorded a merchandise trade balance surplus (difference between total exports and imports) of QAR 20.6 billion down from QAR 43.7 billion for the similar period of the previous year, according to the "Quarterly Bulletin on Qatar Foreign Merchandise Trade Statistics, Q2 2016" published by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS).

The Qatari exports declined by 32.4% in Q2-2016 reaching QAR 49.4 billion down by QAR 23.7 billion on a yearly basis.

The Q1 2016 year on year decline in total exports was mainly due to lower exports of Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials by QAR 21.3 billion.

Meanwhile, the Qatari imports recorded QAR 28.8 billion in the second quarter of 2016, compared with QAR 29.3 billion for the same period of 2015.
