Mubasher: Qatar is looking to order 60 new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, the GCC nation’s energy minister said on Monday.
Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, who also serves as deputy chairman of the state-run giant Qatar Petroleum (QP), projects cooperation with major Korean shipbuilders on constructing the LNG carriers, Reuters reported on Monday.
Financial details of the deal weren’t disclosed.
For his part, the chief executive of South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co said most of Qatar’s LNG carriers were built by South Korea’s top three shipbuilders.
The statement came on the sidelines of Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s two-day visit to South Korea.
