Qatar’s 2016 budget to focus on spending efficiency

Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s budget for the New Year will focus on providing the necessary fund for major projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure and transportation sectors, as well as boosting the efficiency of spending on operations without compromising the quality of public services, Finance Minister Ali Sharif Al Emadi said on Wednesday.

Al Emadi expected a conservative oil price given the sharp fall in global oil and gas prices in the last period, predicting more declines in prices.

He also said, on the sidelines of Euromoney Qatar Conference, that developments in the country’s financial policies will appear clearly in the general budget for the financial year 2016.

Qatar launched on Wednesday the fourth “Euromoney Qatar Conference 2015” to discuss the outlook for the global economy in light of the new economic landscape, under the patronage of the state’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
