Mubasher: Qatar’s balance of payments (BoP) deficit registered 98-fold rise year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017, the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) said in a statement on Thursday.
The deficit amounted to QAR 31.53 billion ($8.66 billion) in Q3-17, compared to QAR 317 million ($87.08) in the same period a year earlier, the statement added.
Meanwhile, the BoP deficit decreased 11.5% quarter-on-quarter.
In the first quarter of 2017, the world’s biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) posted current account surplus of QAR 8.8 billion ($2.42 billion), versus QAR 35.62 billion ($9.78 billion) deficit in Q2-17.
