Mubasher: Qatar’s gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices (nominal GDP) rose 2.5% year-on-year for the second quarter of 2018, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said in a statement released on Sunday.
The gas-rich nation's GDP at current prices rose to QAR 204.4 billion in Q2-18 from QAR 199.3 billion in the same period of 2017.
Quarter-on-quarter, the GCC member's GDP went up 2% from QAR 200.4 billion in the three-month period ended in March.
The mining sector acquired 48% of Qatar’s total GDP with QAR 98 billion, MDPS data showed.
GDP at constant prices levelled up 17.9% during the three-month period ended 31 June 2018 to QAR 171.5 billion.
Earlier in January, the World Bank (WB) forecast a growth of 2.6% in Qatar’s economy in 2018.
