Mubasher: Qatar’s gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices (Nominal GDP) rose 7% year-on-year for the first quarter of 2018, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said in a statement released on Monday.
The gas-rich nation's GDP at current prices reached QAR 160.44 billion in Q1-18, compared to QAR 149.93 million in Q1-17.
On the other hand, GDP at constant prices went up 1.4% year-on-year to QAR 199.20 billion during the three-month period ended last March.
The estimates have been produced using the data collected by the Quarterly Economic Indicator Survey and from other source agencies, according to the statement.
In the same vein, the nominal gross value added (GVA) estimate of mining and quarrying activities advanced 4.3% to QAR 51.07 billion, compared to QAR 48.37 billion in Q1-17.
The real GVA of these activities went down 2.3% to QAR 94.07 in the first quarter of 2018, from QAR 96.34 billion for the same period a year earlier.
