Mubasher: Qatar’s producer price index (PPI) jumped 36% year-on-year in September to 74.2 points, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said in a statement on Monday.
On a monthly basis, Qatar’s PPI rose 1.9% in September, compared to 73.2 points in August, the ministry added.
The manufacturing index of the world’s biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter consists of three main components, namely mining represents 72.7%, while manufacturing makes up 26.8 %, and the electricity and water account for 0.5%.
The statement attributed September rise to an increase in the mining segment by 42.8%, while the manufacturing sector and natural gas levelled up 43.1%, the ministry's data showed.
The industrial segment rose 23.6% year-on-year in September due to the increase in fours subgroups and the drop of eight other subgroups.
Meanwhile, prices of the electricity segment went up 3.9% on a yearly basis in September, while the water segment levelled up 6%.
