Mubasher: Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) announced that it offers investment opportunities for local small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) worth QAR 700 million.
SC’s announcement came on the sideline of the third edition of the Government Procurement and Contracting Conference and Exhibition (Moushtarayat 2018).
Organised by Qatar Development Bank (QDB), Moushtarayat 2018 takes place during the period between 23 and 25 April at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
The three-day event was attended by about 40 government and private entities.
“We are delighted to provide local companies with so many opportunities and enable so many to be involved in the preparations, staging and legacy phases of the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted in the Arab world,” Ghanim Al Kuwari, Competition Venues Executive Director at the SC, said
SC, the organisation responsible for delivering the infrastructure required to host the World Cup 2022, aims at enabling these firms to be involved in the country’s tournament preparations, staging and legacy plans.
It also targets supporting local SMEs to become active contributors in Qatar’s economy.
“We are confident this will leave a permanent legacy to Qatar’s business society, and its long-term economy, and help the country’s flourishing SME sector continue to grow,” Al Kuwari added.
Moreover, Moushtarayat 2018 will offer more than 2,000 contracts for SMEs with a total amount of QAR 6.5 billion ($1.8 billion), Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, CEO of QDB, said.
